The Year of the Dog

August 3, 2016

Oh wait, actually it’s the year of the monkey I believe. But in the studio it’s felt like the year of the puppy!

I’ve had such a fun time painting my client’s fur babies! Each one comes with their own unique story. There’s Bo, a Miniature Schnauzer who loves to frolic in the snow in Norway. And Lucy, an adorable Boston Terrier in ill-health. Lucy’s Mama now has a precious portrait on her wall to treasure forever. Cooper, Tallulah and Maverick are siblings and their three portraits are proudly hung together in their parent’s home. As I’m sure is true for you if you are a pet owner, each of these four legged friends hold a special place in their families’ heart.

The majority of the pet portraits I am commissioned to paint are done on small 8”x8” or 10”x10” canvases. I love this intimate size, as you are invited to focus on their sweet little faces, and the expressions that make them unique. They can be displayed on a bookcase, or tucked in an intimate nook on your wall to enjoy.
