First meeting

Becoming a client is not about filling out a form for me. I would love to get to know you, and your story, and help to create the type of artwork that you will love to hang in your home for years to come! I will meet with you to establish the vision for the painting to be created and discuss ideas as far as medium, style, size and mood.

Photo Session

I offer photoshoots of the subject(s) in their desired setting. This can take place in your home, a public park, or a studio. I usually allow 2-3 hours for the shoot, and time for an optional wardrobe change.

Photo Session Review

Usually 2-4 weeks after the photoshoot the client will receive a CD with a curated collection of the edited photos. I will discuss with you the various options for the image to be used for the portrait and together we will select the perfect image for the artwork.

Drawing Proof

A finished pencil drawing is rendered as a proof. The client will have time examine the drawing and discuss if any adjustments need to be made. Once the client approves the drawing I am ready to begin work on the final oil painting

Final Painting

The painting process can range from a few weeks to months depending on the size and complexity of the painting. After the painting is complete I will meet with the client for a final review of the portrait. The artwork is then yours to take home and enjoy!

Payment

For commission fees please contact Katherine directly at katherine@katherineschuber.com. I ask for a deposit of 50% of the commission price upon approval of the proof drawing, and 50% upon completion of painting. The photoshoot and pencil drawing are priced individually.
