I love being asked to do unusual commissions. This year has already brought a couple of unique projects through the doors of my studio.
In December I was approached by LEAD Athens- a leadership development program of the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce. They wanted my help in designing a Little Library as part of their community based program.
If you have not heard of the Little Free Library’s before now, they are awesome! They are basically over-sized birdhouses that hold books. The idea is you take a book, and you leave a book. My husband and I regularly check out the selection at the library placed on the patio of Jittery Joes – our favorite local coffee shop.
The library I worked on is going to be placed in front of a cat and dog clinic. I loved thinking through what animal books I wanted to include in the design!
If you want to find one in your area you can check out the map of Little Free Libraries here

I love the artwork on the LFL. I just bought one for our neighborhood and I’m trying to figure out what paints to use. Did you prime, use acrylics and then seal it? I’d appreciate any help as I want this to be done correct from the start.
So fun! Hope you have a great time painting! I believe I primed, and then used oils and then a sealer.
